Male external catheters have traditionally been used for the
management of urinary incontinence due to surgery, injury and
disease. These "condom type" devices are placed over the penis and
attached to a collection device, usually a leg or bedside drainage
bag. Rochester Medical has applied patented technology in the
design and manufacture of our latex-free male external catheter
line. Our devices represent the industry's highest quality and
innovation promoting greater independence, improved hygiene and
user comfort. Each brand specifically addresses the individual needs
of the user by combining various adhesive placement alternatives on
a soft, breathable silicone sheath. To learn more about the advanced

good skin care.

most active days.

Sizing: Select the proper size by using a Rochester
Medical sizer - place the correct diameter on the
shaft of your penis and then read the corresponding
measurement. To maximize comfort and maximize
wear time, the appropriate size catheter should be
used
Small=25mm; Medium=29mm;
Intermediate=32mm; Large=36mm;
X-Large=41mm
Gather your supplies: You will need a catheter, a
collection bag with connecting tube, non-pointed
manicure scissors, soap (do not use soaps that leave
a cream or residue on the skin), washcloth, and
towel.
Trim pubic hair: Always wash your hands before
beginning. Trim the hairs on the shaft and base of
your penis, and any other pubic hair that might be in
the way, so it won't stick to the adhesive on the
catheter.
Cleanse your penis: In order for the self-adhering
catheter adhesive to perform properly, the skin must
be clean and very dry. Wash your penis with mild
soap and warm water. Be sure to allow the area to
dry completely before proceeding.
Application and Positioning: Place the rolled
self-adhering catheter over the tip of the penis.
Slowly and carefully unroll the catheter, leaving just
enough space in the funnel end so the tip of your
penis does not rub against the inside of the funnel.
If uncircumcised, be sure to leave the foreskin in
place over the head of the penis.
Squeeze to set: Smooth out any wrinkles. Gently
squeeze the catheter around your penis to properly
seal to the skin. Wear time may be significantly
reduced if adhesive is not properly sealed to the
skin. Note: Too many wrinkles in the catheter may
indicate that an inappropriate size has been
selected, and a smaller catheter may be needed for
more effective results.
Connect to collection bag and tubing: Connect
one end of the tubing to the connector of the
catheter and the other end to the collection bag.
The connecting tube can be cut to any length that
you find comfortable. Strap the collection bag to
your thigh or calf, depending on your activities and
your clothing. The collection bag will need to be
changed or emptied before it becomes completely
full. A full bag may become uncomfortable and pull
on the catheter.
Wear time: Wear time will vary from user to user.
It is recommended that a male external catheter
should be changed at least every 24 hours and
replaced with a new one.
Remove the connections: Clamp the connecting
tube closed before removing the collection bag.
Release the leg straps and disconnect the tubing at
the top of the bag.

Remove the catheter: Apply a warm, wet
washcloth around the catheter for 2-3 minutes, then
gently roll the external catheter forward and off the
penis.
